How to Shop for Wine During Quarantine: Online or Local
If you’re anything like me, keeping a stocked wine cellar is high on your priority list…especially during a pandemic.
Wineries gain a ton of revenue from their tasting room traffic, but now that those are closed, we can find other ways to support them and keep our wine fridges happy.
Along with supporting wineries, it’s also helpful to support local restaurants and wine stores.
Many restaurants near me are now offering alcohol as a takeout option (!), and lots are offering delivery, too! You can find some awesome deals, like 50% off wine bottles to-go.
How to Shop for Wine During Quarantine: At Home or Locally
I don’t know about you, but quarantine for me has definitely involved a lot more wine-drinking. Whether you’re looking to shop for wine at home, or you’re an LA local, here are a few options you can explore for restocking your wine cellar and supporting the wine industry.
shopping for wine online
Do you have a favorite winery you’ve visited recently? If so, check out their website to see if they have an online wine shop. They are likely offering discounted bottles or shipping during this time.
Sign up for winery email lists
Be sure to sign up for winery email lists because some wineries that don’t have online shops are offering wine sales via email.
For small wineries especially, many wine sales are made out of their tasting room, so they may not have an eCommerce site set up.
I purchased some wines from Vinemark Cellars, a local producer from California. Vinemark is a favorite of mine, so I was stoked to receive an email saying they are offering bottle discounts and free shipping. I highly recommend their Sangiovese!

Check out SupportOurWineries.com for a growing collection of wineries offering free delivery, discounted bottles, and more deals to make ordering wine online that much more enticing.
It’s on this website that I discovered Bella Grace wines and haven’t turned back since! Bella Grace is located in Sutter Creek, California, and they’re offering wine bundles at prices you can’t pass up. I’m now a big fan of their Grenache Blanc, Barbera, and rosé of Grenache and Mourvedre. I’ll definitely be ordering more from them again soon!
shopping for wine in la
Many LA wineries, stores, and restaurants are offering free delivery for locals, or curbside pickup. You can also order via delivery apps like Postmates, Caviar, etc.
Here are my go-to’s for buying wine locally in Los Angeles lately:
ANGELENO WINE CO.
Angeleno Wine Co. is a local winery with a tasting room in DTLA. They’re offering free delivery, as well as curbside pickup on the weekends.
My favorites of theirs are the Zanja Madre (Syrah/Grenache) and the Bike Path (Tempranillo/Grenache).
SILVER LAKE WINE / HIGHLAND PARK WINE
Silver Lake Wine is doing free local delivery and curbside pickup. All you have to do is call, let them know what kind of wines you’d like and your budget, and provide payment information.
The wines are ready for pickup within a few minutes, and I trust all of their recommendations.
Their sister store, Highland Park Wine, is offering a similar local delivery and curbside pickup situation.
HOLCOMB WINE BAR
Holcomb Wine Bar in Highland Park has set up a trading post that has serviced all my baking needs. Along with amazing wines, you can order other grocery essentials like eggs, flour, cheese, meats, and even sourdough starter...which I’ve already killed twice now.
Just order online and you’ll receive an email that your order is ready for pickup within a few minutes!
If you want to pick up your order on the same day, you just have to order by 2pm, and their daily pick up window is 12-3pm daily.
TILDA
Tilda, a trendy new natural wine bar in Echo Park, is available on Caviar for delivery. I ordered some the other night and it was delivered within the hour.
They also have contactless pickup Tues-Sun. Tilda focuses on natural wines from California, but I recommend also trying the Paleokerisio orange wine from Greece.
LA PERGOLETTA
La Pergoletta, my favorite pasta restaurant in Los Feliz/Silver Lake, is selling fresh pasta, wines, sauces, and other deli goods everyday 11am-4pm.
They also share a new pasta special everyday available for pickup or local delivery. The deal includes 2 x pasta dishes, a bottle of wine, bread, and a dessert for $35...now that’s a steal.
EATALY
Eataly in Century City is still open everyday, but they are also offering curbside pickup and local delivery.
If you want to order wines for pickup, just shoot them an email and let them know what you’d like.
WALLY’S WINE & SPIRITS
Wally’s Wine & Spirits in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills are both open for wine shopping, takeout, and online ordering with free ground shipping on orders over $99.
Check out their amazing selection of wines!
The good news is, it’s not hard to find wine during quarantine.
If you can, utilize this time to try some new stuff, practice your tasting skills, and support the wine business.
Happy wine drinking!
Let me know in the comments where you’ve been purchasing your wines during this time - I’m always looking to support new places!
